Green Esthetics Argan Oil and Longer Lash- reader reviewed and recommended

I like organic products a lot, but they are pricey, so sometimes I lean in the way of convenience, expediency, price or just opportunity. Yet, in those rare moments when the moon is in the Seventh House and the stars align with Mars, and we are not in retrograde, green can be most definitely the best way to go. So getting my hands on two products by Green Esthetics and finding out that they are all that and, perhaps, a bit more than the sum total of their parts is exciting. That said, I really liked these two products and highly recommend them.

Green Esthetics Argan Oil ($49.95/1.7oz) is certified organic by the USDA and contains only virgin, cold-pressed argan oil. Additionally, it is like a Swiss Army knife that has limitless versatility, making it ideal for face, body, hair and nails. The argan oil comes in multiple sizes as well as in rollerball form. I had only used the argan oil on my nails and hands until Valerie from Truth In Aging contacted me with a few product tips she had received from a Green Esthetics representative. It had already worked very well on my nails, cuticles and hands, but according to Green Esthetics, I could really treat my hands by mixing equal parts of the argan oil and lemon juice and soaking my nails in the mixture for 10 to 15 minutes. It did a wonderful job of smoothing my thinning, fragile nails and hardened cuticles.

I’ve used argan oil for years as a leave-in hair treatment, but they’re not all created equal and some were just too heavy on my hair and weighed it down. However, I decided to throw caution to the wind and tried a few drops of this one after washing my hair – I even used with my leave-in hairspray. I added a few drops to the ends of my hair and was pleasantly surprised at how pretty my natural curls formed and that it didn’t leave my hair heavy or limp. The next time, I went a little further by applying a few extra drops of it to my entire lower length and again directly on the ends. It really minimized the frizzy ends I usually have after air drying and maximized my curls.

I also saw big difference after flat ironing my hair. Green Esthetics’ Argan Oil was almost like an organic heat protectant against the ionic iron I use, so I didn’t feel like I was damaging or stressing my silver locks. This oil actually allowed me to lower the heat without compromising efficacy. Needless to say, I’m happy with my results and plan on continuing this little regimen to see if it is consistent. I will also try to keep up with the hand-and-nail treatments. I decided not to try it as a facial moisturizer as I’m naturally oily in the T-zone area.

The  Green Esthetics Longer Lash ($69.95) serum is a real winner to me. It’s an eyelash growth conditioning solution that helps fortify lashes and brows – minus the harmful, synthetic chemicals that other lash treatments use. I liked being able to see the product, so that I could gauge how much I was using (that’s huge to me). I don’t like trying to guess how much of the product is left and how soon I have to make another major purchase because, let’s face it, lash serums are expensive.

I initially used the Longer Lash twice a day on both upper and lower lashes and on my brows as well. I found it to be very gentle; however, once or twice in haste I missed my eyelid and hit my inner eye. It did sting a little bit for a second or two, but no more than that. I used it twice a day, in the morning before putting on my makeup and again at bedtime. Though I was pleased with this serum’s overall performance, there is one caveat I encountered during my morning application: trying to wear it under makeup didn’t work for me. You need to ensure that you don’t put too much on and that you let the product dry well before applying makeup. In a few instances, I guess I layered it on thicker than normal because it did leave a visible thin layer of residue. That deterred me from the morning applications – except over the weekend – I continued to apply it twice daily during that time period.

One of the tips the Green Esthetics rep offered for using Longer Lash involves applying the product as a base for eyeliner by applying a normal layer around your eyes and allowing it to dry (slightly) for a few seconds, then putting it on your regular eyeliner or shadow along the lash line. I guess I’m a bit heavy handed or just cannot gauge what a normal layer is because this didn’t work for me. Time is relevant, and I’m very limited time-wise in the morning, so it could be that I added too much and just didn’t give it substantial time to dry adequately, so it was best to forego it altogether in the morning and just use it at bedtime.

However, I am happy to report that I have noticed some nice growth and fullness during my trial period; more on my right eye than my left, but it’s unmistakable. Does it give the heavy contenders a run for their money? Too early to tell, but in comparison, for what I’ve experienced over a four-week period, it’s got significant possibilities.

Some of the products I review are hits; others are misses, and may not work for everyone. But for me, this trial was a definite double hitter.
